Journalists will be accompanied by a member of staff for patient/participant interviews. Interviewees shall be at liberty to put restrictions on what is to be published as well as what is to be attributed to them.
  • Please note that no one is obliged to talk to journalists. It is important that sources are informed that they are being interviewed for a story and that journalist do not insult, abuse or otherwise embarrass interviewees.
  • Journalists are to conduct the interview in a language the interviewee is comfortable with, this is to ensure that there are no cases of misinterpretation.

Notes on Interviewing Children

Children’s experiences and stories can be compelling if handled properly. Before you collect stories from children, you must ensure that these children are not placed in situations where they might experience retribution or stigmatization.

  • Obtain permission from the child and his or her guardian for all interviews, videotaping and, documentary photographs
  • Confirm the accuracy of what the child has to say, either with other children or an adult, preferably with both.

We have a wide range of resources to help journalists and persons wishing to write about or report on our program activities. We also have previously documented stories, videos and photographs that demonstrate our program progress, successes and general experiences from the field
